This week, Year 1 read the story of Elmer.
It is a wonderful story about a patchwork elephant who learns the importance of being himself.
Elmer, the patchwork elephant, thought the grey elephants laughed at him for looking different. Ashamed of his colourful appearance, he painted himself grey with berries. By the end of the story, Elmer realised the importance of being himself and learned that the others laughed because they find his tricks so funny!
We worked in pairs to discover how we were different and learned so much about our friends! We also worked together to create beautiful patchwork elephants.
This story has taught us that we are all different and this is something to celebrate!
There are no outsiders at Archibald!
