On Friday 17th May Mrs Mullick and Miss Watson accompanied the art ambassadors on a trip into the city centre to hunt for sculptures in our local area. We found lots of different types of sculpture and the children learnt that these were created for a variety of reasons; to remember those who fought in a war, to celebrate a significant event or individual, to represent a legend or interesting fact about the city or as a creative piece of artwork. The children also stopped to appreciate the architecture at the monument and chose something to draw from observation.
We all had a lovely morning and the children can’t wait to feedback to the rest of their class next half term ready for art and sculpture week.
