Autumn in Key Stage 1

17/12/24

Can you believe we are breaking up for Christmas this week? Where has our Autumn term gone?

The children have had a whirlwind of a term getting settled into their new classes; showing courage when getting to know new members of staff and accessing brand new curriculum to enrich their curious minds. We are so proud of all of our children who make amazing progress each and every single day.

Here’s a look at some of the things we have been up to this term at Archibald…

Forest school sessions with Mr Holman are always a highlight for our children. We made potions, zip lines, shelters and had a whole lot of fun!

Year 2 used green screen to take photos with some of our iconic bridges of Newcastle. Are you sure these weren’t take on your fieldwork visit…?

Year 1 made healthy smoothies after learning all about fruit and vegetables and how they grow. They explored, tasted, voted, peeled, chopped and tasted!

A visit from That History Bloke to teach Year 2 all about the Great Fire of Newcastle and Gateshead

Year 1’s trip to the castle to re-enact the Battle of Hastings and explore the very castle that gave our city its name!

Year 2’s trip to the Quayside to explore our city’s wonderful bridges and to complete fieldwork with the local community to help us decide on a new bridge to build.

Year 2 burning their buildings in Forest School, just like the Great Fire of London!

Year 1 exploring the human body and the 5 senses

Well done Key Stage 1 on a fantastic term! We can’t wait to see what’s in store for Spring!
