Ann Cleeves comes to school to work with the Year 4 children!

10/2/14

The creator of ITV’s Vera tracks down the next generation of crime writers.

Award winning author and creator of Vera Stanhope our best loved Northumbrian sleuth, is set to encourage the next generation of local crime writers.  As part of Archibald First School’s Book Week, Ann will work directly with Gosforth children, sparking their enthusiasm for creative writing.

Head teacher Julia Bayes said: ‘Everyone in the Northeast knows and loves Vera.  The children are absolutely beside themselves to have a famous author come and work with them.  It’s never too early to instil the joy of writing and Ann is a great role model, showing how writing can lead to great things.’

Ann Cleeves said: ‘I love reading and I’m always glad of the chance to share my passion for it with others.  I’m really looking forward to talking books and writing with the Archibald students.  Children are bubbling over with fresh ideas and imagination.  With luck one of these children will catch the writing bug and be a future best seller’.
