Year 4 have been working with Sustrans to try and make our community a better place! Recently, we carried out fieldwork in our local area. We thought about how different areas near our school made us feel and why. Then, we carried out a traffic survey for that area to see if we could make any links between our feelings and the amount of traffic.
A few weeks later, Michael and Sarah from Sustrans came to Archibald to work with us to create a manifesto about how we can improve our local area. Year 4 had so many intelligent and thoughtful ideas! We even voted to see which ones were most important to us. The next steps are to look at implementing what is in our manifesto and possibly even involve Ward Councillors!
We also had a whole school assembly where Michael from Sustrans told us all about the Big Walk and Wheel event! It will inspire our pupils to make active journeys to school, improve air quality in our neighbourhood and discover how these changes benefit our world. It is taking place 20th -31st March and we will actually be competing against other schools. The more active journeys we make, the more chance Archibald has of winning a prize. Let’s all get active!
