What on earth has Mrs Nelson stood in?? Can you smell it from your house? It stinks. What could it be? Watch the video. Talk about what you think it could be? Why do you think that?
Reception Activities
Task 1 Make your prediction – Write it down and/or send a video. I think Mrs Nelson has stood in…. because… you could draw a picture to go with your sentence of whatever you think it is.
Oh no! Something else has happened. Watch the next video –
Yikes all of the school underpants have gone missing? What has happened? Have you checked your drawers at home? Do you have all your underpants?
Task 2 What has happened to the underpants? Write down your explanations – do you know someone or something that likes underpants? Could they have taken the pants? Send another video to your teachers explaining.
Task 3 Watch the story – Dinosaurs Love Underpants. Discuss the story, the pictures and what happens. Could the story be linked to anything that has been happening? Could a dinosaur have been into school to pinch the pants? And have they left behind something Mrs Nelson has stood in?
Task 4 Now, if we think it is Dinosaur’s poo. Let’s investigate their diet to see if it could be. Find out what different dinosaurs eat. What does a TRex eat? What does a Brachiosaurus eat? A Plesiosaurus? Do they eat similar things or completely different things? Use the Powerpoint presentation below to find out – try doing some research too using non-fiction books or the internet. Write down some of the things you find out. Once you have found out you can complete the Twinkl ‘Dinosaur Omnivore Carnivore Herbivore sorting worksheet which can be found below.
Task 5 Write about the book – Dinosaurs love underpants. See the attached sheet below.
Extra Activities

3. Help hang out the washing or have your own washing line – practise pegging things up (own clothes, younger siblings or dolls clothes)
4. Watch 101 Dinosaurs from National Geographic on You Tube. Answer the questions…How many different kinds of dinosaurs are they believed to be? What have all dinosaurs derived from? The smallest dinosaur was as small as…?

Reception Maths
This week we are looking at number formation. Lots of parents have mention that their children are writing their numbers reversed or incorrectly. I will pop a video on Tapestry this week so you can watch to see how to form those numbers 0-9 correctly with some little tricks to remember.
Please use the sheet below to practice forming those numbers. Once you can write these digits then you can write any number!!! Could you write your phone number or the biggest number you can think of.
Here are some fun ways to practise formation;
Try writing in sand, flour, salt, shaving foam, gloop (cornflour and water)
Grab a stick and write them in the air like a magic wand.
Paint big numbers.
Draw rainbow with lots of different coloured pens.
Grab your chalk and writing them on the ground, use a paint brush to rub your numbers out.
Once you have practiced writing your numbers then try to use them in addition and takeaway number sentences. Don’t forget your +, – and = signs. You could roll a dice to generate the numbers.

Nursery Maths
This week we are focusing on numeral recognition to either 10 or 20, depending on how confident your child is with numbers. Here are some ideas of activities that you can do at home to help your child with this.
Number splat – write numbers to 10/20 on some pieces of paper or sticky notes. Call out one number at a time. Can your child ‘splat’ the correct number either with their hand or a fly swatter?
Number hunt in jelly If you don’t have jelly, you could pop some numbers in some bubbly water to hide them. Each time your child manages to pick out a number ask them to tell you which number it is.
Playdough Numbers. Use playdough to make the shape of a given number. Can your child tell you which number they are making?
Tracing numbers. Number tracing activity using cotton buds and paint. Write a selection of numbers onto a sheet of paper. While your child traces over the numbers with paint, ask them which number they are painting.
