Year 4 have had a wonderful trip to ‘Live Tales’ at the Live Theatre in Newcastle. The workshop was based around creative writing. When we arrived we weren’t sure about how we felt about writing, some children really weren’t looking forward to it!
Once the workshop began there was a very scary publisher who said that children couldn’t write original stories. We were desperate to prove them wrong and so they set a challenge to see if we could write an amazing story.
We had to create really different and creative characters as a group (No one could believe how imaginative we were). To help the illustrator of our story we posed as our character and described what they looked like and their personality.
Once we had done that, it was time to write our story. After sharing some ideas, we went away with some writing mentors who helped us to come up with thirty original stories to present to our publisher.
They couldn’t believe how amazing Year 4 ideas were! Not only did we have a great shared beginning and characters but we were given excellent illustrations of them and our own booklet to finish the incredible stories!
