Reception make a rainbow

Reception have been exploring light and how it makes a rainbow.  We learnt how rainbows are made in the natural world with sun and rain.  We learnt that the white sun light splits into 7 colours when it passes through the raindrops.  We then experimented to make our own. We used torches and CDs to project a rainbow onto the wall. We found rainbows in bubbles and used our colour mixing skills to mix primary colours to make orange, green and purple.  We looked at the Hindu Festival of Holi and make a rainbow by throwing the Holi powder. This was the most fun way to make a rainbow.
